About Charlie Kimble
M.Ed., MSW, LCSW

I've had a successful career as a software developer, software architect, Information Technology executive and consultant.  Forged by my own family history and experience, I developed a passion for better understanding the causes of addiction.  I decided to go back to school with the goal of helping anyone who struggles with addiction or other mental health issues.  I got my masters degree in counseling psychology (M.Ed.) from Rutgers in 1999, in 2018 I was able to leave corporate America and go back to school full time obtaining a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) with a certification in addiction counseling.  I am the father of two adult children and two grandchildren and understand the challenges of parenting and balancing work and outside life.  I am a competitive person and have an appreciation of how psychology can benefit performance in sports along with performance in the work place.  In my work I  see therapy often evolve in phases, the first phase is typically around symptom reduction, most people come to therapy from pain and suffering.  Psychoeducation and coping skills can provide relief.  The next phase is often looking at family and history to see how people got to where they are, understanding the narrative of their life, this is the insight phase examining the origins of thought and behavior patterns.  Finally, the focus shifts to personal growth to help people become their best in all domains of life based on their values.
